Whats happening ?

We all live in little comfort bubbles, few ever venturing out of it. From the moment we are born, everyone, atleast the more fortunate ones are used to being taken care of - by family or guardian or the society.
We learn to cherish this feeling of safety and crave for it.

Then the person grows up and takes up schooling . This is an uncomfortable process- new people , new patterns , new lifestyle , ordeals, peer pressure, creating your identity! All this is stressful , leading many  to take up drugs ,alcohol  or other such distractions to cope.

Then, as led to believe 'right and normal' by education system and society at large, we compete like piranhas for the best college, best grades ,  best job,to get the best girl or guy, have children to see them go through the same cycle and finally hope to die, before becoming a burden on children or government.

Lets examine this situation in its totality. You are born into this world ,  struggle, sloth and devour each other for what? Answer - to become Minions. Not the cute little yellow things from 'Despicable Me' either, minions for corporate giants to make profits off your labor and work.

Why? Because you want to be safe , you want to conform like trained dogs. Honestly , aren't you more worried about the pesky neighbours "What are you doing these days?" question, than your own anxiety about future.
Whose life are you living?
Examine your fears. What are you really afraid of? Whats the worse that could happen?
If you lived in an ideal society , where you could do anything you wanted, what would you do for a living?

I've often encountered students asking me which course to take , or what kind of work is 'good'.
Some just want to be in a particular field because they pursued education in that domain. And funny thing is they may not be knowledgeable or interested in that field. So just because they ignorantly chose to waste four or five years of their life studying in the wrong domain, they want to waste rest of their life instead of trying to rectify that mistake!

Take a pause , breath, you have time to acertain that your life is moving in the right direaction.
People often forget to do one essential thing in their busy lives - Live.

And to conclude, many say corporate life is a rats race, so here is one of my  favourite quotes about that :

“The trouble with being in the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat.”
